More About Me

I was born and raised in Dubuque, Iowa in the United States. I attended college in Middletown, Connecticut and later lived in Massachusetts, New Hampshire and now in Maine. I consider myself both a Midwesterner and a New Englander having lived half my life in both regions.

In high school I lived in Uruguay for a spell and Spain during college. I speak Spanish and Portuguese and have deep respect for Latin American and Iberian people and culture. Perhaps I am part Latino too.

My most fulfilling experiences in life have been helping others, learning, traveling, and being with my partner Paul, family and friends.

Credo:

  • I am a quiet person and happy on my own. I like to think, create and laugh.
  • I am blessed with a loving family and partner of over 15 years.
  • I choose to live healthfully and to be happy.
  • I value learning, diversity, tolerant society, individual freedom, human rights, and social justice.
  • I believe in social democracy, humanism and the worth and dignity of every person.
  • I am agnostic and have been drawn for many years to the Unitarian-Universalist community.
  • I know that as a world citizen I must respect all growing things: humans, animals and plants.
  • I know that humankind is instinctively good and that we must overcome the fear and prejudice we learn through society.

In short, I believe life is our greatest gift and responsibility. Our greatest task is helping and loving others.
